Holiday Gift Guide ~ Day Fourteen - East Side v. West Side
If you grew up in Toronto like I did, you likely identify as an East End person or a West End Person - meaning you grew up east of Young Street or west of Young Street. I’m a East End, girl having grown up at Greenwood & Gerrard. Anything west Yonge was foreign territory to me. When we took our yearly Christmas shopping trips to the Polish grocery stores and bakeries in Roncesvalles, I may have well been in Poland for how far away it felt. When I first started dating my husband, he was living at Queen & Lee Avenue in the Beaches area of Toronto. Although not from Toronto, he wisely chose to live in the East End. But a few months into what was looking like a rather promising relationship, he informed he was giving up his beaches pad and moving to Bloor West Village (Jane & Bloor). I literally thought there was no hope for us. How could we have a relationship if he was basically moving across the earth. Turns out that Bloor West isn’t that far after all. He eventually came around to my East End sensibilities and we’ve lived nowhere but since.
Now it’s easy to show my ‘east end’ loyalty in these cute and comfortable tees’s ($38.00) available at Collected Joy in Kingston Road Village or their new location on Mount Pleasant. Both east end incidentally. ;) These tee’s are designed and manufactured in Toronto - though I’m not sure which side of Yonge. Collected Joy also has a cute neighbourhood version for residents of Davisville Village and Kingston Road Village. Do you have a Real Estate Agent friend who works in Toronto? This is definitely a perfect gift for them.
P.S. Go East!!! AND somehow I’m a day ahead here, so I’m going to take tomorrow (Sunday) off and be back at it on Monday with Day Sixteen. Yikes, we’re getting closer!
