During my recent trip to Mexico, I was reminded of my love for the humble straw bag. Many Mexican designs are so colourful and vibrant they remind me of the pretty decorations seen at a Cinco de Mayo festival. My personal taste in straw bags is a little more natural and definitely more French girl chic. Think about strolling the farmers market stalls and filling your basket with the freshest cheese, field picked flowers and crusty baguettes straight out of the oven. A straw bag is a fine replacement for a reusable shopper now that weather is every so slowly turning in our favour. There is certainly no shortage of straw bags on the market, in fact a simple search on Etsy will bring up no less than 21,000 results from all over the world. Don’t forget to check out second hand and vintage shops for straw bags as well. In fact the straw bag I photographed at the top of the page was spotted at the Leslieville Flea this past weekend (can’t remember the name of the vendor - sorry), and it was only $20. Kicking myself for not snagging it. You never know where you’ll find a great bargain and a straw bag that you’ll use and love forever.
