Top 5 - Tote Bags

I know nary a woman who doesn’t love a tote bag. A tote bag differs in it’s functionality from a purse. It’s much larger and generally unfastened at the top. Some women carry a tote as their purse - or with a smaller, purse (clutch) tucked into the tote use when running into a store or stepping out for lunch. My closet (and my husband) will tell you that I have a tote obsession. I love the comfort of big bag over my shoulder that I can carry anything and everything (including my husbands things - wallet, glasses) in. I think my love of the tote bag grew out of my former love…the diaper bag. You remember it right? Luckily my currents totes aren’t usually littered with Cheerios and baby wipes. Tote Bags are versatile, reusable and of course fashionable. Here are my top 5:

Everlane Market Tote

Made famous when the Duchess of Sussex (back when she was simply Meghan Markle) carried the Market Tote to the Invictus Games right here in Toronto. Market tote on one arm, Prince on the other - a winning combo in my opinion. This bag couldn’t be simpler in it’s design if it tried…which makes it perfect. This is my tote of choice and I love it as my carry on when I’m travelling for a weekend away. $175USD.

Longchamp - Le Pliage Tote

The Le Pliage Tote from Longchamp is what I would consider everyday French luxury. Le Pliage comes in many sizes and colours and will quickly become the workhorse tote in your closet. This bag has the bonus of zipper top in case an open top makes you nervous, especailly when travelling. Great for the trendy gym girl, it’s also a perfect fit for your laptop and files. Toss in a bouquet of flowers and a baguette for the ultimate French girl look. $190CDN

Cuyana Tall Structured Tote

I first discovered Cuyana (meaning fewer, better things) when I was in Georgetown a couple of summers ago. I love the classic silhouette of this bag and the soft pebbled leather. The interior pocket is large enough to slip your laptop into and a secondary pocket is perfect for your cell phone. $215USD

Parker Thatch Racer Stripe Mini Bag

I spied Parker Thatch on the arm of one of my fabulously fashionable friends not so long ago and immediately fell in love. The price is not for the faint of heart for a canvas bag- but you’ll look gorgeous with it, so please weigh the pro’s and con’s carefully before considering this purchase. ;) Seen several times on the swank arm of Reese Witherspoon, this bag is a classic with short handles and a long strap for cross body if you prefer. Pockets on the ends work for your glasses and phone. And how cute is that monogramming? Check out the website for the assortment of designs available. $300USD (I know…don’t be mad at me).

Joe Fresh - Faux Leather Tote

I do a double take of this tote every time I see it at Joe Fresh because it looks so much like the Everlane Tote. Classic design and vegan leather for those who prefer their cows in the pasture.
