Prince Edward County Getaway

Prince Edward County Getaway

IMG_0673.jpg

I’ve recently spent some time on a girl’s getaway in Prince Edward County and it very quickly came to my attention that several of my super loyal readers were planning girls weekends and getaways for themselves. I’m thrilled you’ve loved my PEC itinerary and Insta pics, so I thought it might be a good idea to provide you with my favourite spots in 'The County’ so you can experience them while the goodness is still super fresh in my head. I hope this will give you a snippet of all that I love about the county, and I’ll also include some other popular spots that I didn’t visit on this trip, but have come highly recommended.

Enjoy your getways, I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be when the Fall colours set in. Did I just say Fall? No…no, I didn’t. ;)

P.S. If you click on the name…it’ll take you to the Instagram page where you can get more information.

Wineries, Distilleries, Breweries and Cideries (is that actually a word?)

Clossen Chase Vineyards

Located on the Clossen Road ‘strip’, Clossen Chase will immediately charm you with it’s big purple barn. Besides their lovely wine tastings, The Swinery restaurant onsite makes a nice stop for lunch while touring Clossen Road.

Rosehall Run Winery

Don’t be fooled by this demure winery as it serves up some of the finest wines in the county. It’s definitely worth a tasting stop and bottle (or two) to go. It also provides a great Instagram opportunity if you get there early enough and the Muskoka chairs are empty. ;)

Parson’s Brewery

I’m not a beer girl, but a stop a Parson’s Brewery is an absolute must on any PEC Getaway. Located in Picton on a beautiful expanse of property, Parson’s is great stop for a late afternoon lunch or drinks and nibbles. The outdoor kitchen is fabulous on a sunny day and it serves up delish Argentinian/Mexican fusion delights on long farm style tables. Think guacamole, empanadas and ceviche. Really yummy.

Settler’s Cider

A newcomer on the county scene, Settler’s Cider has more than satisfied the need for those who love a crisp cider on a hot day. Their tasting room is one of my faves in the county mixing farm house chic with mid century modern styling. It also happens to be one of the best places for an impromptu photo shoot as you can see from my Insta.

Kinsip House of Fine Spirits

Do not pass up a stop at Kinsip to sample their awesome spirits. Advanced booking is required for their 45 minute Kinsip Experience tour. The tour includes 3 tastings of your choice and tour of the beautiful farm. I came away with one of their vodkas in a gorgeous bottle.

Other ‘not to miss’ wineries:

Restaurants

La Condessa PEC

Another relative newcomer to the county is La Condesa. This authentic Mexican restaurant is a great addition to the tiny town of Wellington, and is located conveniently on the main strip close to The Drake and the beautiful Augustus House Bed & Breakfast. We had a delicious lunch at La Condessa that included tacos, guacamole, tostadas and quesadillas made with local ingredients. Had I not been the designated driver, I would have indulged in the authentically Mexican mezcal margarita.

Enid Grace

Enid Grace cafe in Wellington was entirely worth the thirty minute round trip drive from Consecon (where I was staying). The fresh baked goods are completely enticing as the smell wafts onto the street. If there happens to be a line-up, join it - it’s completely worth it. I have never had a better blueberry scone in my life. And remember - I just spent a week in England. Be sure to indulge in one of the mouthwatering croissants as well.

Other ‘not to miss’ restaurants:

Farms & Markets

Carson’s Garden + Market

Carson’s is definitely my new fave county market. I could have spent all morning is this gorgeous market and garden centre. I was lucky enough to meet Carson who is a CityLine regular, and spend some time with his lovely on site Alpaca’s. The market is chock full of all the gorgeous finds you could possibly want for your country home or cottage as well as interesting and unique items for your garden. If you get hungry, grab a bite from resident food truck Flossie’s.
