Steep vs. Cheap
Everything I write is inspired by something, I don’t always tell you what it is but there's always something. Each post has a backstory and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write this Steep vs. Cheep about a wee little tweet I once made. First off, I’m not in the habit of replying to everyone I follow on Twitter. Usually it’s only Roz Weston and Mocha from Kiss92 (I know, I know) and Marcus Stroman (again, not even sure why…but he did ‘like’ one of my comments once about his dog and his Jeep and his Goyard crossbody, so that’s enough to keep me going). But once, as you can see above - I commented on a photo of Christina Marleau’s. Christina is the wife of recently traded Toronto Maple Leaf Patrick Marleau. I had noticed from her pics that she had a recurring theme of colourful loafers - only I would notice that, right? Anyway, they all looked like Gucci Loafers to me - I mean why wouldn’t the wife of a pro hockey player have a whole closet full of Gucci Loafers? I would! So I commented on the loafers (I know you’re rolling your eyes - it’s totally ok, I get it - I’m a geek) and she replied (are you suprised?) that her shoes are in fact Sam Edelman! Now let’s just clear one thing up here very quickly. Notice that I didn’t say ‘GUCCI SHOES IN EVERY COLOUR.’ I simply said ‘@gucci in every colour.’ Girl knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. So…there was definitely a connection happening. Me + Christina = basically besties (in my mind) from that tweet forward. I did see her in an arena once shortly after that exchange, but I refrained from introducing myself to her. BTW…she was wearing Sorels, so you know who will back in Sorels this winter. Yep…this girl! ;)
Steep - $950.00
Way back in December 18’ Santa deemed me worthy of his ‘super nice’ list and left a pair of Gucci Princetown Loafer Mules under my tree. I had been jonesing for these for awhile. I patiently waited for the weather to be perfect to wear them…and have since given them regular rotation, with the exception of rainy days. I’m a big fan of mules and will continue wearing these long into the Fall. Loafer mules are a three season shoe. Mine are black like above, but they are also available in several other colours as well - hence why I thought my bestie Christina had them all.
Cheap - $165
So…you understand my confusion - right? I could only identify the top of C’s shoe, and she was wearing the full loafer which looks very, very similar to the Gucci Loafer. Because I love and own the mules…I chose to feature the mules. This is the Sam Edelman Linnie Bit Mule and they also come is several different colours as well as croc, metallic and raffia. Incidentally I have become a big fan of Sam Edelman shoes after this entire Twitter exchange. Beautiful styles and super comfortable. I bought a pair of 3’ heels for a recent wedding I attended and wore them all day and night without sore feet. Be sure to check them out. After all - if they’re good enough for a hockey wife…
