Trending - Micro Jewellery
For most of us jewellery lovers, the words micro and jewellery should never appear in the same sentence. After all, isn't bigger always better when it comes to diamonds? As it turns out - not always. There is a definite trend right now towards micro jewels. I'm talking tiny earrings, delicate rings and super fine necklaces that appear barely there on your skin. Even iconic Canadian jeweler Maison Birks has boarded the micro jewels train with their Iconic line of layering rings, as well a collection of necklaces specially designed for layering. I myself became obsessed with Megan Markles fine layered rings (including the super sexy thumb ring) that she wears, even after Harry popped Diana's diamonds on her left hand. Ms. Markle has also continued wearing dainty earrings (often from Maison Birks) and minimal jewels around her neck. It's a very classy look that is clearly fit for a Duchess.
Megan wore these sweet Plaisir de Birks Diamond Swirl Earrings ($1595) to an event just the other night. They looked very sleek, yet simple with her (not fit for a Duchess) messy bun.
If your budget isn't quite that of a Duchess, I suggest you consider some of the super cute micro earrings from Eliza Perry. My favourites are these very appropriately named 'sticks.' With prices ranging between twenty and thirty dollars, you can even buy yourself a couple of pairs.
For a treasure trove of micro rings, check out Poppy Finch as long as you don't mind ordering diamonds over the internet. ;)
This pic from the Bluboho Instagram is a masterclass is layering micro necklaces. They have three locations (two in Toronto and one in Oakville) and also ship worldwide.
So put away your oversized necklaces and bracelets for awhile and see how you feel in barely there jewellery.
P.S. Just to be honest...there's not a chance I'm putting my diamond earrings away - micro trend be damned. :)
