Dear Glimmer...

Dear Glimmer...

Here I've paired a fringed poncho with skinny black jeans and heels for an evening look. I love all black with chic jewellery. The feather earrings and blingy cuff definitely create a glam rock look.

Dear Glimmer...

Everywhere I turn women are draped in ponchos this season. I'm sure if I love it or hate it, but I'd I'm willing to give one a try. Can you suggest a couple of different looks, so I can fit in with the trend?

Signed,

Ready for the Poncho Show

Dear Ready for the Show,

I have to be honest...blankets belong on the bed, or on the couch if it's a cold day. They do not belong draped over your body and traipsed around the street . If you can't tell already, I'm not a huge fan of the latest poncho/wrap trend, and don't even get me started on short-sleeved sweaters! It's not me...I prefer clean and sleek, but a trend is a trend and I'm happy to offer you some tips on how to make it work for you.

I think leggings or skinny jeans are best suited to the current poncho/wrap trend. If you pair them with wide leg jeans you risk a hippy/boho look and that's fine if that's what you're going for, but not something I personally I would recommend to everyone. With a baggy or boyfriend jean, you just look sloppy.  When worn with leggings, ensure your poncho covers your booty. I happen to believe that leggings are not pants...so cover your bum.  A top that comes down to your mid-thigh would work best.  Even the best booties should be left to the imagination, unless you're at Pilates.   If you're wearing a poncho/wrap you don't need a scarf. Keep it simple and sleek.   Pair a poncho with skinny jeans and you have a little more flexibility with the length of your poncho. I like the fringe in the example I've shown above because it knocks off two trends in one.

Good luck...and keep warm!
