Chocucterie

Since the Raptors have started the playoffs, game nights at my house have seen my family room full of teenage boys watching the game and playing endless rounds of mini sticks. I thought it might be nice to treat the boys to some fun snacks - that don’t have to be healthy.

AirBnBing this Summer?

Since we’re coming up on summer vacay season, and many of you (including me) will be renting AirBnB’s instead of traditional hotels, I thought it might be worthwhile to go through some basic AirBnB etiquette. AirBnB’s ARE NOT hotels, so you shouldn’t expect the same level of service that you would receive in a hotel.

Mixed Tape

Did anyone ever make you a mixed tape? Just image the hours of work that went into putting all those song on to a cassette. Recording them from an album or even the radio. I was given a mixed tape once, it even had a homemade cover.

Bigger is Better at La Muse

Bayview Avenue between Millwood Road and Eglinton Avenue in Toronto is home to some great restaurants and retail. It’s been so good for Sarah Barr, owner of Boutique LaMuse (1610 Bayview Ave) that she’s recently taken over a larger space (a few stores up) that was once occupied by Horticultural Design (for 27 years) to expand her successful women’s boutique.

Baby Steps to a Plastic Free February...and Beyond

As I sit down to write this I’m peeling the top off of a single use plastic package of hummus…(insert eye roll here) to eat with my Mary’s crackers. This was the internal dilemma I faced when I was recently asked to join the Facebook group Plastic Free February; how am I ever going to give up all the little conveniences in my life that are conveniently wrapped in plastic?

Currently Using...In The Shower

Do you always use the same products in the shower? Do you buy different shampoo and different soap every time you run out? Do you only buy what’s on sale? Does your husband ‘borrow’ your products or does he use his own? I’m definitely a combination of all of those things.

Winterlicious Pix - 2019

What’s the best way to beat the winter blah’s? Why eat delicious food of course! Reservations are now open for Toronto’s semi annual restaurant festival Winterlicous. The other side of that equation being of course Summerlicious.

The New Hotel on the Block

There’s a new (but not really) kid on the block in the swish downtown Toronto hotel wars - if there is actually a war between the hotels. The St. Regis Toronto (formerly Trump Hotel - icky) recently opened it’s doors after an extensive renovation to remover all the Trumpiness from it’s rooms and restos.

Top 5 - Tote Bags

I know of nary a woman that doesn’t love a tote bag. A tote bag differs in it’s functionality from a purse. It’s much larger and generally unfastened at the top. Some women carry a tote as their purse - or with a smaller, purse (clutch) tucked into the tote use when running into a store or stepping out for lunch.

Shoebox Project

I was invited to a holiday cocktail party recently, and the smart hostess (who happens to be my neighbour) asked the attending ladies to bring along a Shoebox for the Shoebox Project. This seasonal self-esteem enhancer provides holiday gifts for women affected by homelessness currently living in shelters.
