Currently Using...In The Shower

Do you always use the same products in the shower? Do you buy different shampoo and different soap every time you run out? Do you only buy what’s on sale? Does your husband ‘borrow’ your products or does he use his own? I’m definitely a combination of all of those things. Certain products, especially the ones I use on my face are regulars in my shower niche. Others I like to switch up like my shampoo and shower gel, mostly because I get tired of the same fragrance. As with my makeup, I try to only buy ‘safe’ products. Here’s what I’m currently using…in the shower:

  1. Razor - I’m not too picky about which razor I use in the shower for my legs, it’s usually whatever is on sale at Shoppers. I found a Harry’s razor and some extra blades in my vanity which I bought for my hus ages ago, but he found it didn’t give him a close enough shave. Lucky for my legs I guess!

  2. Bar Soap - This is my husbands request, I prefer shower gel on a puff. I have switched him over to the safe side and we’re currently loving the bars recently launched by Lovefresh. They have some seriously yummy fragrances like grapefruit, vanilla coffee and tequila lime.

  3. Clairsonic Mia 2 - I love my Mia 2 sonic face brush. If you have one - covet it and treat it like gold because it’s recently been replaced by the Mia Smart and the Mia Prima. I exfoliate my face in the morning (every morning) which is just a personal choice. I could do it just as easily with my evening routine - but I like it in the shower.

  4. Facial Cleanser - Beautycounter Rejuvenating Face Cleanser is my shower go-to cleanser. I put an almond size amount of my Clairsonic for a great cleanse and exfoliate.

  5. Body Wash - As I’ve already mentioned I switch up my body wash regularly, but one of my faves is Trader Joe’s Teatree Tingle. Whenever I head south of the border I alway pick up a few bottles. It’s cheap as chips - I think $3.99. Even converted to Canadian is a great deal for a safe product. Keep Trader Joe’s bath/body products in mind if you’re ever in the States or if you can convince a friend to bring one back for you.

  6. Alternate Facial Cleanser - I use Juice Beauty’s Organic Facial Wash after I have a laser facial. You can’t use the Clairsonic to exfoliate for a few days after a facial, so I love this non foaming gentle cleanser.

  7. Body Exfoliant - I use a body exfoliant or scrub a couple of times a week all year round. Salt or sugar scrubs work equally well and I usually go for one of the Lovefresh Sugar Scrubs. BUT, my sister-in-law bought me a lovely treat at Christmas. Israeli brand Laline is new to Toronto and I’m loving the Liquid Salt made with Dead Sea Minerals. It’s like rubbing divine smelling silky liquid on your skin - but watch out for any nicks or scratches on your body, you’ll definitely feel them after this goes on. Ouch. You can find Laline at Yorkdale, Sheway Gardens, Fairview Mall and Eaton’s Center.

  8. Conditioner - My girlfriend introduced me to Trader Joe’s Hair Mask (yes, she brough me a treat from California) and I haven’t turned back. I actually use it every day on my ends, and weekly on my full head for great conditioning mask.

  9. Shampoo - I’m a little bit of a ‘whatever is best in the natural section’ of Winner’s kinda person, and feel really lucky when there’s a big stock of Andalou shampoo. If there is, I usually buy up whatever is on the shelf - yep, I’m that girl. I really like the Sunflower & Citrus. Currently though, I’m using Acure - Coconut and Marula (found at Winner’s) and I like it just fine. I should probably use a shampoo specifically for colour treated hair, but my hair seems to be in good condition - so for now I’ll use what’s safe and smells good.
