Photo Essay: The Farms of Upstate New York

Some of you might find this statement rather shocking coming from me, but alas sometimes words don’t come to me. Call it ‘writers block’ if that’s a term that’s more familiar and it definitely sums up the feeling…but I prefer to simply say ‘the words just aren’t coming”. When the flow dries up, I find comfort in images through the lens of my camera. Whether it’s my iPhone or my DSLR - a picture sometimes says what I’m feeling at the time better that I ever could.

Last week I was in upstage New York and was amazed at the beauty of the surrounding farms that dotted the rolling hills. Full disclosure; someday I want to own a property with barn on it. I don’t want to say that I want to own a farm because that conjures images of me milking cows, feeding chickens and slopping the pigs. No thank you. Although a couple of fresh eggs a day would actually be lovely -don’tcha think? I’m thinking more of a modern farmhouse where I could do Pilates in a giant light filled room. Where I could go outside in my pjs, sip my morning coffee and not be greeted by neighbours (no disrespect to my neighbours). While the farms of upstate New York were anything but modern, they are classic and charming and completely captured my heart. What I struggle to put down in words today…I give you in images.

Happy Thanksgiving!
