Dear Glimmer...
Dear Glimmer...
I'm going back to work at a Bay Street bank next week after ten years at home raising my children. My feet are pretty much used to living in Nikes, Havanans and Uggs, so I'm a little nervous about wearing a pair off high heels all day. I don't love the look of flats with my skirts and pants, but want to save my feet. Do you have any suggestions?
Signed,
In Anticipation of Sore Feet
Dear Sore Feet,
First of all let me say I love that you aren't immediately deferring to flats with your work wear. Flats can obviously be much more comfortable option than heels, but heels are just that much more professional looking.. Sorry...it's just my opinion. For those of you who wear flats...by all means keep wearing them, I'm strictly giving my opinion - from my Nike and flip flop filled closet. :( Anyway, a great compromise for your feet and ankles would be a wedge pump. Made very famous by the gorgeous Duchess Kate, the wedge pump is classic and in my opinion very professional looking. A wedge evenly distributes weight, therefore making balance much easier and putting less pressure on feet, ankles and legs. A heel puts all the weight on the front part of your foot requiring constant balance. Hence, tired and sore feet.
You may think of casual espadrilles when you think of wedges, but these Coach Roni Wedges are the perfect work shoe. They also transition beautifully from day to night if you ever find yourself lucky enough to attend evening functions. The 3" heel is an ideal height for pants, skirts and dresses.
Duchess Kate made these KL Bennett wedges so popular that for a time they were completely sold out. I love the classic espadrille heel but the patent upper gives them a touch more sophistication. They will still work very nicely for the office.
Giant congratulations on your new job...can't wait to see you in your new shoes!
