It's all about the Macaron...and everything else.
I'm on the hunt for the yummiest macaron (pronounced mah-ka-rohn) in the city. Ever since having to adjust my diet to gluten free, it's become my treat of choice. So I checked out Blog TO's suggestions and one patisserie in particular caught my eye. Mon K Patisserie is located in east end Toronto on Cowell Avenue, not too far from where I grew up. I always love supporting an east end business...so off I went to check it out.
There is something so comforting about the smell of fresh bread, and I was happily bowled over by it walking into Mon K. The lovely twist on Monk K is that they are a French/Japanese P bakery, so many of the offerings have a Japanese twist on them like matcha, red bean and of course green tea. I wanted desperately to dig into a fresh, buttery croissant but gladly settled for trying three macarons...after all, they were my original mission. There was about eight varieties to choose from, I settled on salted caramel (my absolute favourite) chocolate banana and green tea. They were all delish...really light with creamy centres. A really great cup of coffee came with me and I was a very happy girl.
If you're ever in the Cowell and O'Connor area, drop in to Mon K...you will not be disappointed and it feels so good to support amazing local businesses. And let me know if you try any of the other goodies.
Bon Apetit!
