'That Looks Tempting' ~ February

'That Looks Tempting' ~ February

Some of my most popular posts have been the short ones where I dole out snippets of info for you to consume without spending too much time reading through long blog posts. With that in mind, I’m starting a new monthly feature called” That Look’s Tempting”. Each month I’ll highlight five things that look ‘tempting’ for the upcoming month. Areas covered will include the culture, fashion and restaurants - essentially anything that catches my eye that I think looks fun, interesting and probably delicious (if it’s food). Though I have been know to look at a pair of shoes and think “omg…those are delish.” Considering I live in Toronto, most of my suggestions will likely be based here…but I’ll definitely try to throw in some suggestions from across the country if I can. Because the things that intrigue me are places I haven’t been to yet or things I haven’t tried, photos will likely be from Instagram.

Let’s get this started…here’s what looks tempting for February:

SLAYER BURGER - @slayerburger

The incredible photography on Slayer Burger’s Insta had me at ‘suggested for you’ on the gram. I love a delicious smash burger (sorry vegans) and the Slayer burger looks absolutely perfect. Add a serving of crinkle fries and an ice cold Coke and I’m in heaven. They have two location in Toronto, both in the east end, so very convenient for moi times two. I intend on trying both - different burgers at each obvi.

Melanie Auld Jewelry ~ @melanieauldjewelry

Vancouver favourite Melanie Auld Jewelery has opened her first Toronto location. I’m particularly drawn to the permanent bracelets that are custom fit and welded together to stay on your wrist. The new boutique is located on the trendy Ossington strip.

Skating at The Bisha Hotel ~ @bishatoronto

Book a nights stay in February at the Bisha Hotel Toronto and get breakfast for two at Kost and an hour skating at this petite rink on the hotels patio included for free. This could be a good use of my new skates.

West Side Story ~ A Steven Speilberg Film

Have you been to a movie during the pandemic? I’ve been to one. During the Delta wave I went to see The House of Gucci. I felt comfortable enough and I think I even had some popcorn. So I’m extremely tempted to see West Side Story on the big screen - KN45 on the whole time! Maybe I’ll take it in on a weekday matinee.

Square Foot Show ~ @squarefootshow

The Square Foot Show is an online (because of covid obvi) art show that features 12x12 original works of art by over 60 established and emerging Canadian artists. Check it out online February 9th - 11th, but if you see something you like, grab it - pieces go very quickly.

Anything interesting tempting you this month? Let me know in the comments!

P.S. In January I was tempted to try the new bakery from Pearl Morisette restaurant in Jordan, Ontario fittingly titled RPM Bakehouse. Giving into the temptation paid off. The bakery is a warm and cozy haven where you’ll find tasty baked goods using many local ingredients. We kept warm by the fire pit while having our flaky buttery croissants and fresh roasted coffee. I brought home a bag of their home-made granola and have enjoyed it with my yogurt and berries for breakfast the last few days. Check them out on Instagram @rpm_bakehouse.

Spice buns made from local ingredients.

Cozy by the fire, even on a frigid day!

I love the big pecans in the granola.
