Oh Canada!
Entering this holiday weekend after a super crazy month of June (June is the new December - right?) I've decided to take a moment and think about what being a Canadian means to me and all the things I'm thankful for.
I'm thankful:
- My parents (immigrants) were allowed to enter this country with their infant son in 1957 - and nobody separated them or put him in a cage!
- My mother is safe and secure in a government long term care facility that treats her with dignity and respect during her final phase of life with dementia.
- My son will be attending University in the fall in our nation's capital! Can't get much more Canadian can you?
- Poutine...yep, straight up poutine.
- All of the gorgeous cities in this country (Vancouver is my fave) and the diversity they bring.
- The friends we've made while watching my younger son play hockey. We love hockey and we're thankful for it.
- Joe Fresh, Hudson's Bay, Roots and Lululemon - thank God for Lululemon!
- Tim Horton's - dark roast only.
- Smythe, Mackage and Sentaler
And last...I'm going to be spending the weekend on my favourite great lake (as a Canadian, you should really pick your fave) the gorgeous Lake Huron - which I think boasts some of the most spectacular sunsets.
Happy Canada Day beauties!

P.S. I love this photo of the Parliament Buildings I took while there in May and the chocolates in the first photo are from Avoca - in Leaside, a proud Canadian company.
