Stretching your Summer Wardrobe

Stretching your Summer Wardrobe

Not everyone is going to love or even like the popular street style of wearing a dress over your jeans or pants. I've done it in the past (and loved it) and I'm thinking I'm going to work it into my wardrobe just a wee bit more this season. Layering in this style can be a very chic look and can help you get more milage out of your summer dresses, especially with the gorgeous weather we've been having of late in southern Ontario. Taking a chance on this style is fun and a good balance between casual and elegant. As a bonus, if you're not keen on your booty - this is a great style hack to cover her up! I like to pair skinny jeans with a mid-thigh dress or long tunic and then add a pair of booties with heels. This look is also very cute with your athleisure sneakers, such as the ones I mentioned in last weeks post. You'll definitely be the chicest Mom at brunch next Sunday!

Here are some of my favourite dress with jeans/pants looks - all from Pinterest.

This is such a fresh and pretty look. If it gets too cool for the light shirt dress, try pairing with a chambray dress.

Unbutton almost all the buttons on a knee length shirt dress for a very chic and sexy look.

This dress/jeans combo would also look gorgeous with high black booties...but I do love the sneaks. Add a statement necklace to 'shuzh' it up a bit.

I love the turtleneck under this leopard print slip dress. This is summer dress, but pairing it with jeans makes it totally transitional.

This is one of my personal favourite dresses. Here I paired it with booties (and bare legs), but to transition to fall I'll add a pair of dark skinnies or ripped jeans.
