Five Things...
You need to bring to a hotel...
Are you planning a getaway involving a hotel stay? Maybe you travel regularly for work and stay in a hotel. Either way, here are 5 things I think you need to pack with you to make your stay more comfortable:
- Bathrobe - I know many hotels offer bathrobes, but dontcha' think it's just a little weird to wear a robe that's been worn by hundreds of other people? I know they've been washed...but still. It's much more comforting to bring your own. Just don't forget to grab it off the back of the bathroom door when packing up. I forgot mine last weekend at the Oban. :(
- Pillowcases - I'm ok with hotel sheets, but hotel pillows are another story. Bringing your own pillowcase helps to alleviate the stress of laying your head down on a 'well loved' pillow. I like to bring my own along and rest my head something I've washed and sprayed with a little soothing lavender mist. Try to bring one that isn't white so that you don't forget to take it off the pillow when you leave. A striped case or a monogramed one are good choices.
- Hairdryer - Glam squad shall travel. Hotel hairdryers are the worst. I'm fussy about my blowout, so I always bring along my own tools. Nothing frustrates me more than that little puff of hot air coming out of a tiny blowdryer. Don't forget your curling or flat iron as well.
- Travel Candle - Most hotel rooms have a certain antiseptic smell to them, and actually this is a good thing because at least you know it's been cleaned. To freshen up the room to a more pleasing fragrance, bring along a travel candle but don't forget to blow it out when you leave the room. Hotels will likely hate me for suggesting this, but it's what those candles in tiny tins are made for. Try Voluspa...they have great fraragances. If you're uncomfortable with a candle, try a room fragrance or a couple of sticks of incense - they are usually strong enough even without burning. If you wear perfume, a few sprays of that will work in a pinch as well. If you have room in your suitcase, bring along a diffuser with your favourite essential oil
- Slippers - Do you really want your bare feet touching hotel carpets and floors? Pack your slippers or flip flops or something comfortable to wear around the room. This is an absolute must in my books.
