Cropped
I posted this photo to Instagram a couple of days ago. I was strolling through Anthroplologie and spied this Maeve blouse. It's 100% my style...a little boho, would like super cute with ripped jeans. But there's a problem with this almost perfect top...it's missing the bottom third!!!! I have seriously had it up to my eyeball this season with the cropped styles. Now I know I'm sounding like an old lady here, but this style just isn't flattering if you're over thirty. That's right thirty...and you're lucky I gave you that. Wear a long tank underneath you say! I don't want to. First, I think it ruins the integrity of the look of the top, second I hate wearing tanks underneath my top because I get too hot. I know, total peri-menopausal comment there. I wear tanks to bed or to pilates - and those are yoga tanks. I also noticed that if the tops aren't obviously cropped...thy're just shorter - coming down just barely half way down the zipper of my jeans. Even one of myfavourite brands of tee at Anthro (TLA) were all tiny and cropped. Seriously they looked like they were for little girls. Now, I'm not trying to throw Anthro under the bus or anything - you know I love that store and will continue (trying) to shop there, these cropped styles are everywhere and obviously we know it's not the retailers fault if that's what the designers are showing for the season. But I really am getting frustrated that every top I pick up looks like it belongs to my eight year old niece!
P.S. Oh, and if they're not cropped...they have an elastic around the bottom - don't even get me started!
