Dear Glimmer...

Dear Glimmer...

It's starting to get cold outside and I'm dreading hauling out my big, frumpy coat and boring snow boots.   Can you suggest a sleeker look for winter so that I stay toasty warm, but don't look like George Costanza in his famous "puffy coat?"

Signed,

Don't Wanna Be George

Dear Don't Wanna Be George...

Gosh, I don't blame you for not wanting to look like George. Those giant jackets take up a lot of space. Luckily "puffer coats" are less puffy and far more stylish these days.   I personally go for the look I've created above. I love my Canada Goose Victoria jacket...it was a great investment considering how much time I spend walking my dog and in cold hockey arenas over the winter.  I chose the army green colour over basic black. I find it still goes nicely with my accessories...hat's, boots and gloves.  I've also put together a few other parkas that I really love. They look a little sleeker than the Canada Goose which can be good if you're looking for something to transition from work to weekend.

Stay warm!

I love this 'soft earth' coloured 'Cold as Fluff' goose down parka by Lululemon. An attached hood for super windy days. I like a hood, but I know not everyone does. It's a great length...keeps the booty warm, but not too long for the car.

The two coats above are actually one from Patagonia. I like the smooth silhouette of both coats, even when worn together. One look is sporty while the other is sleek.  A snap on hood makes it even more versatile.

Who wouldn't look fabulous with an extreme hit of red on a gloomy winter day. This Marmot Chelsea Coat delivers in spades.  The hood is removable faux fur and the length is car friendly.  The price is also a little easier on the wallet than the Goose.
