31 Day Blog Challenge - Day Seventeen
Day Seventeen - Favourite Childhood Book
I knew I would love Day Seventeen for two reasons; it's my birthday (and I LOVE my birthday) and I LOVE books. I always have. I love the feeling and smelling (yes, smelling) a new book. Cracking open the spine and diving into a new world. It's such a beautiful escape. Well my favourite book from childhood was certainly an escape for me. The Golden Book of 365 Stories (illustrations by Richard Scary) was given to me for Christmas one year. I might have been about seven or eight years old. The front cover particularly fascinated me. The sister and brother all cozy in bed with their copy of the book reading to each other. I used to think about that illustration and how you see the cover go on and on forever. I loved the all the animals around the bed too, particularly the fox holding the kitties hand. So charming. The book was filed with a story or poem for every day of the year. I can remember my mother reading to me at bedtime, but I also remember pouring the stories and poems myself. My favourite (wish I could remember the day) was this poem about a bunny;
Once a month with a hop, hop, hop
Off I go the barber shop.
Once a month with a snip, snip, snip
He cuts my hair and home I skip.
Funny the things we remember....
Off to cele my birthday...
xo.
P.S. This was the inside of the book. I always thought animals looked so cozy and warm except for the poor owl and bird out in the cold. :(
