Lighten Up - Spring Fashion from La Muse

I seriously cannot get Spring fashion out of my head. Yes, I know there are still big huge problems in the world, but my brain keeps cascading back to pristine white sneakers paired with casual but chic sweat suits. It is what it is…so we might as well talk about it. If you’ve been doing any shopping lately, whether it’s online or if you’re super lucky - in store (lookin’ at you people in Oakville and Ottawa), you’ll notice that the Spring lines have slowly been rolling out over the past few weeks. And if you follow any retailers or designer on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve noticed the same themes as I have; comfortable and casual is her for Spring and possibly here to stay.

One of my favourite things to to do when writing posts about fashion is to head out and take photos in stores I love. Sadly I can’t do that (at least for another couple of weeks) in Toronto. Luckily Sarah Barr at La Muse (in Leaside) and her fabulous team sent over some snaps of what’s hot for the coming season. La Muse now has an online boutique to make shopping easier while in lockdown or for those who prefer to stay close to home as restrictions ease. Most items from La Muse in this post are linked and available online.

TREND: Tie Dye

Eva Sprial Tie Dye Hoodie $89.95 and Emery Spiral Tie Dye Joggers $79.95

Personally I’ve been cautious about the tie dye trend, but would definitely lean into a set in neutral tones like this one from Z Supply. Layered under a trench or light weight jacket is an awesome pulled together look, (see photo below) or as Sarah likes to call it “Le Look Leaside”. She should trademark that! And please, please, please don’t think you’re too old for tie dye. Think of it as any other print…that’s all.

Vincent T-Shirt $79.95 and Vincent Pant $119.95. Adler Shirt Jacket $439.95

TREND: Light Weight Knits

Hania Pullover by Part Two $129.95

Light weight knits are perfect for Spring layering over a tee shirt or blouse (cardi’s) or under a denim or moto jacket. A light weight knit sweater is an awesome and easy choice if you’re ready to leave your sweatshirts and hoodies behind. I’m especially obsessed with the soft sage cotton/linen blend of the Hania Pullover above from Part Two. As an aside, Part Two is one my favourite brands at La Muse. From Denmark, Part Two has a classic European aesthetic. Pieces from the brand are essentials that you’ll have in your closet for a long time. Nothing trendy, just well made clothing.

DK L15 Open Cardi $129.00

TREND: Delicate Florals and Prints

Hannelene Shirt by Part Two $139.95 and Albert Necklace by Leah Alexandra $315.00

Brinley Blouse by Rails $199.95

I’m happy to see that delicate prints are still trending. Very feminine, easy to layer and look professional on Zoom meetings while still being comfortable paired with your favourite jeans. Which bring us to our next trend, and the one some of us have been ignoring lately…

TREND: Jeans

High waist, wide leg, distressed, boot cut, boyfriend and mom…there’s a a pair of jeans for everyone this season. Find a brand (likeYoga Jeans at La Muse) with great stretch that you don’t want to rip off at the end of the day. But if you’ve been wearing “stretchy pants” for the past year…ease yourself back into jeans! ;)

TREND: Stylish Sweats

Camo Jogger Pant from Z Supply $74.95

Don’t worry…sweats aren’t going anywhere! The key to Spring sweats is to find yourself a set in a light french terry or (baby french terry as Z Supply calls it). Light shades of camo like above in pink or pale greens or greys and soft colours are definitely trending.

PULL IT ALL TOGETHER:

Scarlette Crossbody by Pixie Mood $89.95 and Thara Coat by La Marque $499.95

Sarah and her awesome team at La Muse are always available to help you pull a look (or several - as I know too well) together.
