Five Things...

You need for Spring/Summer…

  1. A Straw City Bag - Not your average beach bag, a straw city bag should never touch the sand. ;) Usually a little pricier than the utility bag you take to the beach and stuff with sand toys and sunscreen, a city straw bags looks perfect with this summers floral and flowy dress trend. 2. Light Florals and Tiny Prints - Weather on dresses or blouses or even pants…florals are trending. Wear them with strappy sandals or white sneaker for a more casual look. Lengths are everywhere this season, which I absolutely love. It’s really nice to get back to feminine looks. Above dress from Zara.

  3. The New Birkenstock - Or any Birkenstock for that matter. One of the busiest shops in Soho (as observed on my recent trip to NYC) was the Birkenstock store. If the girls aren’t wearing white sneaks this season, then they’re wearing their Birks. Birks are not your average ‘granola’ sandal anymore. They come in a wide variety of colours and the the buckles have seriously gone next level this season. I’m loving the giant gold look as shown above. For good selection visit the teeny tiny Birkenstock store on Yonge St. in the Summerhill area of Toronto.

  4. The Utility Pant - The utility pant has literally taken over! While I think I’m partial to the ‘jogger’ style, the wide leg (above) either cropped or full length has hit the street. I’m extremely fussy about the where my pants hit my leg because they can really cut off the length of your legs. I have long legs and still like to have my pants graze my ankle, but the wide leg crop can really work nicely for long legs. Shorter girls might not like the cropped wide leg as much. In this case I would steer you towards a utility jogger instead. Above pant from Everlane.

  5. Tinted Sunscreen - Not really a trend, but more of a necessity (and not just for Spring/Summer) is sunscreen. I did want to mention Beautycounter’s new tinted mist mineral sunscreen. It comes in two shades; light/medium and medium/deep and sprays on like a dream without leaving any heavy residue like some physical sunscreen do. Now…whether we actually ever get any sun this spring/summer is a whole other post!
