Holiday Gift Guide Day One ~ From Tree to Table

Experience. If you ask me it’s the buzz word of 2019. Nobody seems to want gifts anymore (except me of course) they want ‘experiences’. Less garbage, better for the environment…I agree! So imagine how happy I was when in my first ten minutes of The One of a Kind Show I found you an award winning experience that combines the outdoors with food and friends in this beautiful province of ours!

From Tree to Table - A Build Your Own Board Experience is a relatively new business/experience from Ottercreek Woodworks in Tillsonburg Ontario. Lead by woodsman David Schonberger (who I had the pleasure to meet at OOAK) you are taken on a beautiful walk through the Carolinan Forest to learn about the wood you will use to create your own beautiful charcuterie board. David then guides you through the process of making your unique live edge board in his wood shop using selected tools including some of his grandfathers vintage woodworking tools. End the day by enjoying a selection of charcuterie (best part if you ask me) at the harvest table in the barn with friends. Not only is this a wonderful gift…it’s an amazing experience for a group of friends or girlfriends as well. If you know me…you know I love a good board, so this is most certainly an experience I will be taking in.

One tiny caveat is that the dates for the 2020 workshops have not yet been posted on the website, so you’ll need to improvise a little on the actual gift. Maybe make up a cute certificate and include it with the book On Boards by Lisa Dawn Bolton. On Boards is full of amazing ideas for eating off boards. This beautiful day in the forest with David cost’s $250.00 and that includes your board.

And there you have Day One of my Holiday Gift Guide. This season I hope to bring you some unique and interesting gift suggestions along with new twists on classic gifts that your friends and family will love.

Tis’ the season - glad you’re along for the ride with me…
