Nordstrom Arrives in Toronto!!!

Last Friday, under clear blue skies...the retail God's looked down on me and said "Vicki...Nordstrom is now open at CF Eaton's Centre - go, go now and shop in joy!" The God's aren't generally wrong. So I listened (obvi) and took a little afternoon field trip down to the bright, shiny new Nordstrom at Yonge and Dundas. Let me be the first to tell you (or maybe you've already been there, in which case I'm not the first) it's a completely fabulous shopping experience. And I'm so pleased to report that it's as good as the stores in the US. Sometimes when an import store comes to town (we all remember Target right?) things aren't quite the same as their US counterparts. Nordstrom is every bit as good as the stores state side, with fab dashes of our home and native land tossed in for good measure.  I was thrilled to see my favourite Nordstrom exclusive activewear brand Zella, with it's gorgeous display of incredible textures and colours still having a reasonable price point when converted to Canadian dollars.  The designer shoe and handbag section is huge and absolutely gorgeous as is the cosmetics area. No counters for sales staff to hide behind here, all open shelving for a really great interactive experience with  your favourite cosmetic and fragrance brands. I especially loved the pretty Jo Malone section. I could stay there all day long. Besides Zella, I was excited to see Madewell (it's first Canadian outpost) represented, as well as some of my favourite designers such as Joie, Frame, Rebecca Taylor and the exquisite Tibi.  The sales staff in all departments were absolutely outstanding - and I hear it's not just because it was opening day. Nordstrom prides itself on it's amazing customer service and I was thrilled to experience it first hand.  I didn't have a chance to check out Habitant cocktail bar on the second floor, but there's lot's of time for that - who would like to join me? Fitting rooms are decked with front lit mirrors for extreme selfie taking - talk about a personal touch.  And for the three whole seconds I was in 'mom mode', the children clothing department was particularly good, with a very nice selection of well priced dress clothes up to size 16 for boys. This is a big deal when your kid is growing an inch a week..right?  Despite the opening day crowds - I had a awesome afternoon and can't wait to check it out again.

Jimmy Choo's in pretty plum for fall.

                                    Joe Malone galore...

This Rebecca Minkoff felt pretty sweet in my hand!

A sweet spot to drop off your shopping companion if they happen      to get tired and cranky!
