Dear Glimmer...

Dear Glimmer...

I just switched over my closet from winter to spring and I was noticing my wardrobe was looking a little lacklustre. I'm interested in buying a few pieces that will update my wardrobe so I look fresh for Spring. Any ideas?

Signed,

Bring on Spring

Dear BOS,

My two favourite times of year are Spring and Fall closet switchover. I absolutely love putting away all the wool and cashmere and bringing out the flowy tops and light jackets. And then of course in the fall I love bringing them all out again. It's like playing store in my closet. I usually take this opportunity to sort our my wardrobe and donate what I haven't worn in two years. I also like to give certain pieces away to girlfriends, if I haven't worn them or they don't fit any longer.  I used to use one year as my guideline, but then I found myself searching for that blouse I wanted to go with those great jeans and and I couldn't find it. Then I'd see girlfriend strolling down the street looking fab in "my blouse" and think oh shit....look what great friend I am. Moral of the story is be careful what you give away. Anyway, back to your question. It's a great time to add a few pieces to your wardrobe. Here are my suggestions for clothes and accessories.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record here...but buy new white jeans. White denim goes greyish after four or five months of washing. Please update...that's all I'm going to say.

Trade your leather or jacket for a jean jacket. They never ever go out of style so invest in the best one you can possibly afford.

A flowy blouse is a sure sign of Spring. Silks flow just perfectly but need to be dry cleaned. Cotton is a great option. There a so many pretty peasant blouse out right now and looks fabulously feminine.

Add a dress. I'm not much of a dress girl, but I bought one for my recent trip to Palm Springs (see it on my Instagram @glimmerlife) and will be wearing it regularly. While the weather is still in the high teens, you can wear a dress with your jean jacket.

I'm loving all the awesome espadrilles available right now. I like that they can be worn casual or a little dressed up. Buy a tie up the ankle pair for a sexy look with jeans or dresses and you'll be right on trend.

It's time to loose the black purse. My favourites for Spring/Summer are tan or a light grey, I like to call it stone. A cute cross body is always a good idea.

Put the heavy MK watch in your jewellery box and go with a watch with a nice tan band.

Hope you'll work some of these suggestions into your wardrobe.

Good luck!
