The New Hotel on the Block

The New Hotel on the Block

There’s a new (but not really) kid on the block in the swish downtown Toronto hotel wars - if there is actually a war between the hotels. The St. Regis Toronto (formerly Trump Hotel - icky) recently opened it’s doors after an extensive renovation to remover all the Trumpiness from it’s rooms and restos. What lives on is an elegant 65 story hotel and residence at 325 Bay Street.

Cocktails in Astor, the bar off the lobby name after John Jacob Astor who founded the St. Regis brand holds a chic ritual every night at 5 p.m. The nightly sabrage or uncorking of champagne with a very cool sword, is fun place to be to start of your evening if bubbles are your thing. This ritual happens in every St. Regis around world at sundown. The glamorous ceremony sets the tone for the hotel which I interpreted as ‘you’re in for a fab night baby.’

If you’re staying at the hotel you may be tempted to dine in one downtown Toronto’s amazing restaurants, but Louix Louis restaurant on the 31st floor of the hotel is not to be missed. The room is nothing short of exquisite. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner so that you can constantly be surrounded with glam if that’s your thing. It’s definitely mine.

The standard rooms are comfortable and have all amenities you would need for sweet little getaway. Comfy beds, big bathtubs, fluffy robes and a stocked mini bar - should I keep going? I love the location of the hotel - walking distance to Saks ladies!!!

So next time you’re looking for a wee staycation, have friends or family visiting the city or are looking for a luxurious spot for a date night/girls night - I would definitely recommend checking out St. Regis Toronto.

This would be a nice spot to do a little writing…alas, I didn’t bother to bring my computer. ;)

The famous 13 layer Louix Louis cake. Make sure you bring a few friends along to share this baby with. Made in house, there’s a whole serving ceremony that goes along with the cake. So fun!

P.S. I was a paying guest of the St. Regis Toronto and I don’t get paid to write these reviews. I just write out of the goodness of my giant thumping heart. :)
